New Virtual Ethical Innovation Lecture Series

Deniz Sarikaya, currently a guest researcher during March and April, will join the Ethical Innovation Hub as post-doctoral researcher starting July 2024

Not only has Deniz Sarikaya joined the Ethical Innovation Hub as a guest researcher during March and April, he will join us as a post-doctoral researcher starting July 2024 as well! He is currently a postdoc Vrije Universiteit Brussel and has previously visited the Ethics in IT group of Prof. Judith Simon at Hamburg University as well as Technical University of Denmark. He has studied mathematics and philosophy at Hamburg University, where he also did his PhD in Philosophy (and the moral sciences) under the supervision of Ulrich Gähde (Hamburg) and Bart van Kerkhove (Brussels).

Successful Contributions at this Year’s EASST-4S Conference in Amsterdam

Members of the Ethical Innovation Hub have successfully proposed three abstracts for presentation at this year’s EASST-4S conference, to be held in Amsterdam July 16-19. The presentations are entitled:

  • Preiß, R., Blank, S., Koppenburger, A., & Herzog, C. (2024). On Advancing Substantive Individual Digital Sovereignty—Empirical Insights on Contrasting Demands of Citizens and Administrative Personnel.

Upcoming Workshop on the Effects of the EU AI Act on AI Research in Schleswig-Holstein, Nov 14, 2024

Tim Schrills, Institute of Multimedia and Interactive Systems at the University of Lübeck, and Christian Herzog of the Ethical Innovation Hub are currently busy organizing a workshop on the effects of the European AI Act on AI research.

Against the backdrop of the state's AI strategy, we will invite all stakeholders and interested parties to an information and exchange meeting. We will discuss ethical, legal and social aspects of AI as well as ways to ensure a legally compliant and human-centered design.
